This recipe is an all-time favorite around our house, especially during the holidays. Once your family gives them a try, these treats will surely become a staple in your home too.

I’ve shared this recipe with plenty of friends as we’ve moved across the U.S. and frequently get requests to share the recipe. I’ll share them with you, for you and yours to enjoy.

But first, what you’ll need to give it an added flair for any season- a large 6-muffin pan and tulip cupcake liners. I find that using tulip cupcake liners work the absolute best when creating a crumb topping to any muffin. You’ll get less of the crumb stuck to your pan, and more on the muffin itself.

Let’s get started!

Ingredients:

For muffin batter

  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnut
  • 1 egg
  • 3 bananas
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp all spice
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For Crumb

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp butter, softened

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line large 6-muffin pan with tulip cupcake liners.
  2. In large bowl sift 1 1/2 cup of flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add salt, all spice, and cinnamon.
  3. In separate mixing bowl stir bananas, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract and egg at medium speed.
  4. Add dry ingredients to banana mixture 1/2 cup at a time until well combined. Scoop approximately 1/2 cup of batter into each lined muffin.
  5. In small bowl combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and softened butter. Cut the butter into the crumb mixture. The texture should appear clumpy. Sprinkle evenly on top of each muffin.
  6. Bake for 22-25 minutes in preheated oven, or until fully cooked at center. Then pull out and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  7. Enjoy!
